She sat in the swing as the sun sighed its goodbye
Colors of lavender and gold painting the sky
Her head leaning against the chain as she cried
Murmuring the bittersweet sounds of a lullaby
“Hush little baby don’t say a word,
Mama’s gonna buy you a mockingbird.”
Tears continue to fall down her cheek as she sobs
Mourning the loss of the daughter of whom she was robbed
She clasps her child’s porcelain doll as she swings
Slipping from reality as she sings
The doll’s hand seems to clasp her hand
Whispering sweetly, “Mama, sing it again.”
*sigh
ReplyDeleteBautiful and touching words darling... I don't know if I shared this before with you but the 'image' I use for my daughter is the one of a little bird.
