Like a Flower

Like a flower that thirsts for sun and rain
I long to feel love again
To feel the warmth caressing my skin
As those first moments of passion begin

For now I wither on the vine
Feeling nothing but the sorrow that is mine
No sun, no rain has nourished my soul
Instead of warmth, I feel so cold

No blooms of joy will raise their heads
Neglect has caused this flower to be dead
Cracked earth is under my feet
As this once fragrant soul, it’s death does meet
